Sleep disorders are a widespread issue, with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute estimating that between 50 to 70 million adults in the United States alone suffer from sleep disorders.
This represents approximately 15-20 per cent of the adult population in the country. The global sleep aids market is also projected to grow to a staggering $125.3 billion by 2027 according to market research firms.
Amanita muscaria is known for its psychoactive properties, with the main active compounds being the chemicals ibotenic acid and muscimol. It has a long history of use in religious and shamanic rituals in various cultures, and its psychoactive properties have led to its use as a recreational drug. However, it can also be toxic and potentially lethal if consumed in large quantities.
Some companies such as Psyched Wellness Ltd. (CSE:PSYC) (OTCQB:PSYCF) (FRA:5U9) have also launched products with Amanita claiming positive health effects. It says its product helps with sleep and improves levels of serotonin in the brain while relaxing muscles and relieving stress.
Reishi mushroom, also known as Ganoderma lucidum or Lingzhi, is a type of fungus that grows in various hot and humid locations in Asia. For many years, this fungus has been a staple in Eastern medicine. Some research suggests that they may boost the immune system, have anti-cancer properties, help fight fatigue and depression and improve heart health.
