The city of San Francisco has joined cities like Detroit and Seattle as the latest to decriminalize psychedelics.
Sponsored by Supervisors Dean Preston (D) and Hillary Ronen (D), lawmakers have unanimously approved the decriminalization of psychedelics like psilocybin and ayahuasca. The measure doesn’t officially change any laws, instead requesting that police deprioritize psychedelics as being among “the lowest priority” for law enforcement. It also requests that the city redirects its resources…
“…City resources not be used for any investigation, detention, arrest, or prosecution arising out of alleged violations of state and federal law regarding the use of Entheogenic Plants listed on the Federally Controlled Substances Schedule 1 list.”
We are so thrilled to announce that our resolution to decriminalize plants medicines and psilocybin mushrooms passed in San Francisco. May compassion and love prevail here and everywhere! Thank you @DeanPreston and @HillaryRonen for the bravery and intelligence! pic.twitter.com/q3ZANaRQry
